EMBO and EMBC announce the launch of the Strategic Development Installation Grants with the aim to stimulate research in a strategic manner in different EMBC member states.
The scheme is based on and replaces the EMBO/HHMI Startup Grants that were announced in 2005. The aim is to stimulate qualified researchers to set up their independent laboratories in participating countries. While some details need to be confirmed the aim is that successful applicants will receive an annual support of ¤50,000 for 5 years.
At present Croatia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Turkey are signatories, other member states have indicated an interest to join in the near future.
Candidates should have spent minimally two continuous years outside the country they wish to set up their new laboratories and have to commit to a full time position at the receiving institute. In the first year applications from candidates who are installed in their current position in a participating member state for not more then one year by the application date will be considered.
The grants will be administered by the EMBO Young Investigator Programme.
