I'm an Italian doctor in research. I've just won a post doctoral grant with the first phase of the Bolsas Individuais de Doutoramento e Pós-Doutoramento 2010. Now I'd need to know if I have to present the Certificaçao de residencia permanente in Portugal. :( My project doesn't preview my moving in Portugal, but my host institutions are only Portuguese (the Instituto de Estudios Medievais and the Gabinete de Filosofia of the University of Porto). In the Official call for project this certificate wasn't asked. What may I do now? Does anyone have some news about this subject? Thanks to everyone who will give me some news. :smt006

Hello there! First, congratulations for your grant :)

I was awarded with a doctoral grant in the same call and the process for both grants is quite similar, so I think I can help you. To validate your application there is a list of documents you’ll have to submit to FCT, first via internet, and after you’ll have to send the original documents by mail.

All the information you need is on the FCT-SIG site (https://www.fct.mctes.pt/fctsig/default.asp). You must log in using the same username and password you used at your application. You must select the option “Resultado Concursos Bolsas” in the left menu and then you must select the hyperlink with your grant reference. At the end of the page starts the information about the next steps to conclude your process.
This space allows, in accordance with Regulations, the electronic submission of additional data and all documents needed to complete your application process. In particular you should:
• Submit additional information needed for the transfer of funds related to your grant: your proposed start date and the bank identification number (NIB) for a Portuguese bank.
• Submit digital versions of documents needed to the signing of your grant holder contract to be checked by FCT services.
• Automatically produce two copies of the contract to be signed by you and the FCT President.
Hence, only original documents (or certified hard copies), delivered in person or by post, will be accepted when FCT services complete all compliance checks, contributing to ensure the minimization of the number of contacts, time waiting in line, corrections needed, etc.
You must select the hyperlink “Submissão de dados adicionais e pré-submissão electrónica de documentos” and you’ll find the list of documents you have to submit. I believe you have to submit your Certificate of permanent residence in Portugal in the mark “J”.
Applicable to all foreign citizens who have requested periods of stay abroad.
A certificate of permanent residence in Portugal must be submitted.
Good luck! ;)

Thanks for your answer. I know that this certificate is asked for doctoral grants, as in te Regulamento, but it's not in the list of documents for posdoctoral ones. My problem is that this certificate is not given to foreign citizens untill they've spent at leat 4 years in Portugal. That's why I'd need to know if I MUST submit it. In this case, infact, I couldn't have the grant as I'm living abroad.
How can I do to know this information?
