We’re hiring several post-doc researchers to join our Power and Energy Systems research led by Prof. Zita Vale. Candidates’ relevant backgrounds include both Power and Energy Systems, Informatics, Operation Research among others. Most of the research activities deal with smart grids, electric vehicles, distributed energy resources and renewable-based generation management, energy markets, load flexibility and demand response, modeling and simulation of energy systems and its components, artificial intelligence technics applications to engineering problems, knowledge-based systems, multi-agent systems, data-mining, knowledge representation – ontologies and semantics.
The hired researchers will take part of our research activities, which are funded in the scope of several international projects, including Horizon 2020 projects funded by the European Commission as DREAM-GO (Enabling Demand Response for short and real-time Efficient And Market Based smart Grid Operation - An intelligent and real-time simulation approach) and DOMINOES (Smart Distribution Grid: A Market Driven Approach for the Next Generation of Advanced Operation Models and Services), and several industry driven projects such as SIMOCE (Sistema inteligente para a monitorização e otimização do consumo energético) and GREEDI (Plataforma Inteligente e Segura para Gestão de Recursos Energéticos em Edifícios de Grande Dimensão), as well as the new Eco-Rural_IoT (Application of techniques and intelligent algorithms aimed to reduce the consumption of power and water in mixed farming environments by means of IoT devices) project that has just started on September 1st.
National projects, funded by FCT, the Portuguese national funding agency for Science, research and Technology, include CONTEST (Innovative CONsumer aggregation to improve demand response and Tariff design for Energy and Services Transactions) as well as the recently granted projects COLORS (Contextual Load Flexibility Remuneration Strategies), MAS-Society (Multi-Agent Systems Semantic Interoperability for simulation and Decision Support in Complex Energy Systems) and CENERGETIC (Coordinated Energy Resource Management under Uncertainty considering Electric Vehicles and Demand Flexibility in Distribution Networks) projects.
The new researchers will join an open minded research team consistently reaching excellent scientific targets, with top level scientific publications and challenging and unique laboratorial infrastructures and experiments, in a highly dynamic, multi-cultural, and enjoyable working environment. The researchers selected to be hired will be offered a work contract in public functions, during three years.
