PhD Position Available in the Field of
Cell-Based Therapies for Neuropathologies
The research group of Dr. Manuel Álvarez-Dolado at
the CABIMER, Seville, is recruiting motivated PhD.
Students with the degree in Biology, Biotechnology,
Biochemistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, or similar.
Our laboratory study several stem cell types in order
to apply them in Regenerative Medicine for the
treatment of neuropathologies. We investigate their
mechanism of action and we develop transplant
strategies that can be useful for the treatment of
ataxias, cerebral ischemia and epilepsy. There are two
main research lines: The first one is focus on the cell
fusion mechanism used by bone marrow derived cells
for tissue regeneration. The second main research line
of the group is to develop a cell therapy with
GABAergic neuronal progenitors for the treatment of
epilepsy.
We offer a stimulating environment in a young
international research group. For more information visit

The student, after a trial period, will be encouraged to
apply for Science and Innovation Ministry Pre-doctoral
Fellowship (FPU), CSIC JAE Pre-doc Programme and
Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology
(FCT)
