Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher in
Membrane Enhanced Tide Synthesis

We have an outstanding opportunity for a high quality research student/ Early Stage researcher to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team committed to excellence, working on a Marie Curie Initial Training Network entitled “MEMTIDE - Membrane Enhanced Tide Synthesis - A New Paradigm Peptide/ Oligonucelotide Synthesis Technology”. The researcher will undertake a fully funded PhD under the supervision of Professor Andrew Livingston within the Department of Chemical Engineering, one of the world’s leading institutions in both the teaching and research of chemical engineering and technology.
The overall aim of this post is to create a new generation of synthesis technologies for peptide and oligonucelotide (“tide”) manufacture, with focus on the use of emerging membrane technology to effect critical separations. The appointed researcher will help to develop new nanofiltration membranes with improved chemical stability, and closely controlled molecular discrimination properties.
The successful candidate should be motivated and independent. S(he) will have a good Chemical Engineering or Chemistry masters degree (or equivalent) The successful applicant will be required to enrol for and be expected to complete a PhD degree at Imperial College during the period of employment. be in the first years of their research career, and not in the possession of a PhD.
not have resided in the UK for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
Applicants from the UK must have resided outside the UK for at least 3 years out of the past 4.
