Postdoctoral position at the ITQB Molecular Genetics of Metalloproteins Laboratory
We are looking for an independent, self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Molecular Genetics of Metalloproteins Laboratory at the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica. One of the main focus of the group is the characterization of the cellular responses used by pathogens to survive nitrosative and oxidative stresses, one of the main weapons used by the human immune system to fight infection. The researcher will be involved in work aiming to unravel the antimicrobial resistance of the human pathogen Helicobacter pylori, a widely spread microbe carried in the stomach of more than half of all people worldwide, which is the causative agent of several gastroduodenal disorders, and that has been shown acquiring increased antibiotic resistance.
The candidate with a PhD degree is expected to have strong skills in microbial molecular biology. The postdoctoral researcher will work at the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biologica, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, located in Oeiras, Portugal, that provides advanced training in an interdisciplinary environment by bringing together several groups of researchers with adequate and complementary expertise in the areas of microbial genetics, biochemistry and biophysics.
