PROGRAMME LEADER
X-RAY CRYSTALLOGRAPHY
The Unit has been awarded a new position to appoint a Structural Biologist with an exciting research programme aimed at exploiting X-ray crystallography to understand the role of protein phosphorylation in cell regulation and human disease. The Unit invites applications from both established scientists and younger investigators wishing to set up their own laboratory for the first time. The appointment, which can start from April 2007, will be made on the Medical Research Council's Programme Leader-Track or Programme Leader, Band 3/2 scale, with initial placement depending on achievements and experience
The MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit is a major international centre for research on cell signalling. Its current programme leaders include Europe's two most cited scientists over the past ten years in the field of biology and biochemistry, and its innovative collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry (The Division of Signal Transduction Therapy) received a Queen's Anniversary Award earlier this year.
