BRU-IUL, Business Research Unit at ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa is offering one
position for a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in the following area:
Marketing
Applicants must have a PhD in an area related to Marketing and, preferably, three years of post-doctoral experience with a significant publication record.
Job description
Applicants are required to conduct independent and original research in the area mentioned above and to publish the research results in international high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
In particular, they must:
• Conceive original research built upon state-of-the-art knowledge
• Write and submit manuscripts to top peer reviewed journals
• Prepare and submit funding proposals to national and international research funding
agencies
• Supervise PhD students
• Reinforce the participation in existing research networks and promote the
establishment of new networks involving members of the BRU-IUL groups and
international groups
• Participate in and organize scientific meetings
• Participate at BRU-IUL’s scientific activities and collaborate in the unit’s reporting
duties
• Possibility to lecture a maximum of 4 hours per week within the subject of research
and expertise (not mandatory and to be negotiated)
Selection criteria:
Applicants must have a PhD in Marketing or related areas and, preferably, three years of postdoctoral experience. Additionally, a research track record demonstrating a significant
publication record and potential to publish in top peer-reviewed journals is valued. Former
research and teaching experience in a foreign university is also valued.
Required languages:
English. Portuguese and/or Spanish is valued.
Conditions of employment:
Work contract with a maximum duration of 5 years. The gross salary is equivalent to reference 195 on the Portuguese pay scale for the research career (approximately €48000/year gross salary). The researcher will also be eligible to research awards.

The Business Research Unit (BRU) is the largest research unit at ISCTE-IUL, with over 100
eligible PhDs (FCT) oriented to multidisciplinary research within the broad areas of economics and management. Its main aim is to consolidate as a top level research unit, in a continuous effort to improve its research rating and contribute to improve managerial and policy-level decision making. Its key areas are Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Applied Statistics and Econometrics. BRU runs 3 doctoral programmes (Management, Economics, Finance) enrolling PhD students from at least 15 different nationalities.
BRU is a very dynamic unit that offers courses and regular seminar series aimed at promoting discussion and knowledge transference between high-profile international
scholars, researchers and students. BRU researchers publish in international peer reviewed
journals (e.g., Management International Review, Journal of Academic Marketing Science,
Ecological Economics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Marketing,
European Journal of Marketing) and are involved with international projects and networks.
Lisbon is the capital of Portugal. With an average 4.6 hours of sunshine / day in December to average 11.4 hours of sunshine / day in July – Lisbon is the sunniest European capital, with Europe’s mildest winter and warm summers. It offers a wide variety of sights and activities, including scenic countryside, breathtaking mountains, areas of historical interest and some of the best beaches in Europe, all just a few kilometres from the city centre.
