"Coursera announced on 6 March that it would host a new public health master’s from Imperial College London, as well as a computer science bachelor’s from the University of London…Craig O’Callaghan, deputy chief executive of the University of London's distance learning programmes, said that he expected the first intake to consist of 125-150 students, growing to 3,000 within five years…He added that the full degree will cost £9,600 for “independent learners” that have “no additional support from an outside agency apart from the module tutors”, and increase to £17,000 for those from developed countries"

Its worth mention that the massive online courses were already considered one of the 10 technologies with high impact in a report of the European Comission Even the Lausane Federal Institute of Technology-EPFL recently "advertise" that their online courses have already attracted more than 2 million students !

Some interesting questions on this issue below:
1-How can these online bachelor programes be able to overcome the severe cheating problem mentioned in the emails below ?
2-Can the solution be to make mandatory for all the future graduates to take a final exam in London ?
3-Should a highly respected university give a degree to someone only because he/she pass several tech/management courses ?
4-And about the graduate ethics is that a irrelevant part of the equation ?
5-Does that option make sense in a Artificial Intelligent time in which emotional and creativity values of students should be emphasized ?
6-Doesn´t that commercialization of the name of a respected university also lead to an erosion of the value of the university brand ?

Assunto: When university Lecturers help students to´s just the economy working !

more than 20,000 students enrolled at British universities are paying up to £6,750 for bespoke essays in order to obtain degrees. The number of students using “essay mill” sites, which can charge over £6,500 for a PhD dissertation, has rocketed over the last five years. one large essay-writing company says that it has seen a 20 per cent increase in the number of UK customers in the past two years.

it is also very interesting that a 2017 proposed amendment bill that would have made it illegal to sell essays to the higher education didn’t pass.

If a first-world civilized country (the first world also have some uncivilized countries with high Gini indexes) cannot not pass such a bill what country can ?

Or can it be that the British politicians have anticipated that this bill could boost the essay mills companies in third world countries thus reducing university lecturers earnings ?

Other interesting questions are:
How many graduates are now on the market with fake degrees ?
How many scholars can be found in academia with fake degrees ?
