PROPINAS DOUTORAMENTO

Mensagem por pedrogarrote »

Hello everyone,

My proposal grant was selected for Bolsa FCT and I have some questions:

1- Currently, I am working as independent worker at my host institution (CEABN/ISA) until 10th november, although my starting date of working programme is 4th september. Is this situation compatible? or Will I have to wait until november to start with my Bolsa?

2- In the proposal grant I put Doutoramento en Biologia from ISA. The tuition fee is 3000 €/year. I have read in Regulamento das Bolsas that FCT pays 2750 € for "Inscrição, matricula ou propinas (al. a) do n.º3 do artigo 24.º)" but this sum is for each year or for the whole doctoral programme?

3- Is it possible that, though I put Doutoramento en Biologia from ISA, I start my Doutoramento in Seville University (Spain).

Thanks for your attention

Hello Ines,

I understand more or less the wrote portuguese but I don't write very well still, therefore I have to write in english here. However, your answer should be in the language that is better for you.

Thank so much!

Cumprimentos ;)

You cannot have any other source of income besides the Bolsa, with a few exceptions. So either you end your current contract by the begining of the PhD (September?) and begin the PhD grant then, or you can only begin your PhD grant after your current paying contract ends (and if you are what we call here an "independent worker" with "recibos verdes"/"green receipts" (and you don't just have some other grant) you must also end that activity before you begin the PhD grant.
Yes, it's per year. When I did my PhD (2006) the universities usually lowered the "propina" down to the value paid by FCT but that may no longer be the case or not be the case at your university.
3- Is it possible that, though I put Doutoramento en Biologia from ISA, I start my Doutoramento in Seville University (Spain).
That is something you have to see with your institution and PhD supervisor, and will also depend on how long you will stay in Seville. There are "mixed grants" that already preview a long time abroad (or at least this existed in previous years), but that is something you would have to choose when applying in the first place. So if you did not apply for a mixed grant now I think you cannot switch to that. Maybe you can spend time abroad but you will be paid as if you were in Portugal all the time.

All the best for you.
