Job description / Project description:
The position is financed under the major Oslofjordfondet project “TouchSensor” on new-generation portable sensors for detection of urinary tract infection (UTI) – a collaboration between Faculty of Technology and Maritime Sciences of Høgskolen i Buskerud og Vestfold, municipalities of Bærum and Grimstad, Vestfold Hospital and Techni AS. The project will realize a sensor prototype based on touchscreen technology for detecting UTI on patients´ samples, using theory, modelling and experiments.
Qualifications:
PhD candidates will be selected in accordance with their grade records in bachelor and master, and expected to have expertise in the fields of medical instrumentation, bio-electronics and read-out electronics systems. Candidates with independent working spirit and strong competences on practical lab work are preferred.
The candidate should have a master degree in Biomedical Instrumentation or related, with a relevant specialization for the project within medical electronics, solid-state electronics, or microelectronics. Background and experience in modelling, analog/digital circuit design, PCB board based fabrication, measurement and wireless communication is desired. Applications of candidates with knowledge on combined biological testing and electronic sensor read-out systems will deserve special attention. Applications of current PhD candidates or recently graduated PhD´s are also welcome.
The applicant should have good English communication skills.
Salary grade: around 500 000 NOK (~60000 EUR before tax) per year.
